Arts and design curriculum integration

Department of Arts and Design is an all in one academic program. Undergraduate program includes"Core Curriculum"and “Program of Studio Art”, ” Program of Creative Design” as curriculum and teaching programs. Moreover, graduate program takes applied modern technology and media to express emotion, artificial intelligence product design and new visual communication as research purpose. Our faculty members include four professor, three associate professors, four assistant professors and one lecturer. Eleven from the nine got Ph.D. and the others got M.S. Each of the programs of the department planned with 21 credits. For more information, please refer to the curriculum handbook. The aims of "Program of Creative Design"  are training new visual experiences, creation works and cognitive theory development. ” Program of Studio Art” emphasizes on the unique landscape, culture and life in east coast of Taiwan to develop individual art style and writing ability. Nevertheless, students’ self-exploration and self-fulfillment are the most important teaching goals. With the simple and natural characteristics of Hualien, they are advantages to guide students turning true emotion into art.

The professional teaching facilities of the department can satisfied with the need in teaching and provide research and leisure environment. For instance, the research setting for graduate students and the environment for undergraduate students to do individual research and publish all can promote production of research and creation. In addition, the department also encourages teachers and students to hold an art exhibition, workshop and international communication.

Rich international communication

In international communication, the department is planning to cooperate with countries. Through the spirit of interdisciplinary arts and free creation to solve the limitation of fixed curriculum and faculty and enhance students participate in international arts activities.

At present, the department cooperates with Triangle Art Trust and hold International Artists Workshop with civic groups.
